What is Gematria?
Gematria is a Kabbalistic method by which a numerical value is assigned to Hebrew letters to interpret the scriptures. Each letter has a corresponding numerical value and different phrases and sentences can be understood better with this method. Kabbalah is the basis of the Kabbalistic cosmology system where they believe that apart from the power of Hebrew letters God created the world through numerical values to make complex things simpler. It is mostly used to understand the complex meaning of the texts in old scriptures or other religious books. But now it is widely used for various reasons in different countries and cultures. It is commonly believed that words or phrases with the same numerical values have some relation and one can be understood better with the help of another.

Types of Gematria Calculator
Hebrew Gematria/ Jewish Gematria
In Jewish Mysticism, Gematria is used to understand the hidden meaning of the texts, especially in the Torah. Jews started using this term in the 8th century BC. It is believed that Soferim scholars used it and counted numbers for each, letter word, and phrase to copy Hebrew Scriptures. The main purpose was that every scripture is copied without any mistakes and the text stays the same over the years. They usually use the ancient version of Gematria which is based on a mathematical system that uses words to get the sum they have to discover its spiritual value.
The Hebrew word “chai” means life and is made of two letters, Chet (ח) =8, Yod (י) =10 the sum of these two letters is 18, and 18 is considered the luckiest number in Jewism and used as a symbol luck and fortune.
English Gematria
It is a similar system to Hebrew Gematria but not historical like the other one. In English Gematria a numerical value is assigned to each alphabet of English like for A the value is 1, B=2, and so on. People use English Gematria to calculate and understand the hidden meaning of words and phrases. They connect them to know better about their spiritual meaning. It has gained popularity now and is used widely in modern numerology.
Latin Gematria
Latin Gematria has historical significance but is not as popular as Hebrew Gematria. In Latin Gematria each Latin alphabet has a numerical value and is used to find symbolic meaning in texts. It became popular in medieval times and Renaissance Mysticism when scholars found some hidden meaning and realized they could reveal the cosmic truths through this method.
Greek Gematria
Scholars believe that the word Gematria was derived from the Greek word γεωμετρία geōmetriā, which means geometry. Other scholars believe that it came from γραμματεια grammateia which means “knowledge of writing”. Exactly like Hebrew and Latin Gematria, each letter in Greek is assigned a numerical value, and the sum of it is compared with other words of the same numerical value. It was used in ancient Greek culture, philosophy, and mystical traditions to understand the hidden meaning and connection of words, phrases, and different concepts.
How it Works?
Using the Gematria Calculator is like a piece of cake. You do not need any prior knowledge to start using it. Just follow these simple steps
- The only thing that you have to do is to enter a word or phrase into the calculator.
- Calculator automatically assigns a numerical value to the letters according to the set of numbers it has
- Then the calculator adds all the numerical values and gives you a total number for your word or phrase.
- Now you can compare the total number with other words or phrases of the same numerical value to better understand the deeper or hidden meaning of the texts.
Examples
For example, you want to search for the hidden meaning of the word “GOD”. You just add the word and the calculator will calculate it by itself as it already has the numerical values of each word and you can compare the total of their sum to find spiritual connections. G= 7, O= 15, D=4. The sum of it is 26. Now you can compare it with other words having the same meaning to find the deeper connection.
